Guernsey Press managing director Mark Lewis said the evening had gone really well.

‘These awards were introduced to provide recognition to those people within our wonderful community that go that bit further, in most cases to make life easier for others.

‘There have been some extraordinary stories.

‘And these awards wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors and partners.’

Deputy Bailiff Richard McMahon was among the guests at Saturday’s ceremony.

‘I like the idea of the community coming together,’ he said.

‘These are the people who do things, which makes Guernsey so special.

‘There are some wonderful stories.’
