Chris Holland, a lower strings teacher for the Guernsey Music Service, was nominated for the Garenne Teacher of the Year award by Tina Laurent.

‘Mr Holland has been my daughter’s music teacher since Year 2 – she is now in Year 12 – from Vale to Grammar.

‘Nothing is too much trouble and he’s incredibly patient.

‘Mr Holland is such a lovely teacher and he has brought the best out of her, especially during the Eisteddfod, when he encourages her to play even though playing in front of people is something she doesn’t enjoy – but she always ends up having a great time.

‘He is forever sacrificing his time for all of his students, whether it be for cello or piano, and treats everyone with the respect and kindness they deserve, even if they haven’t practised their piece. I think that all his students would agree he is very deserving of this award,’ she said.
