Casey Rosamond, 7, has been nominated for the Close Finance-sponsored award by La Mare de Carteret Primary School teacher Juliet Ford.

‘Casey has had such a challenging year at school this year due to a persistent debilitating knee condition,’ she said.

‘Despite this, he has really persevered in all areas of his learning and has remained eager and keen to take part in all activities, including some aspects of physical activity and even swimming.

‘Casey was experiencing a lot of pain in his right knee and eventually underwent surgery just before Christmas 2017 to remove a benign tumour.

‘Casey returned to school after the Christmas holidays, initially navigating a wheelchair around school but has since been on crutches with a splint on, receiving regular physio and attending numerous appointments.

‘He has since had more visits to Southampton Hospital, has undergone more surgery and potentially he could still have more to come.

‘I have nominated Casey for this award as he is a shining example of a seven-year old little boy who has demonstrated superb resilience, remained positive despite being exhausted, tired, and generally worn out, and has never given up.

‘Casey is hopefully on the road to recovery and is looking forward to using his bike, which has been stashed away in the garage since Christmas.’
