Pauline Bisson was one of the people who wanted to nominate the group.

‘Coming from a lifeboat family, I feel they deserve this award,’ she said.

‘They all give their time and are always willing to put there own lives at risk, on some occasions.

‘Saving lives at sea to them is the most important thing anybody could do. My son, my son-in-law, my godson are all crew.

‘My late husband was coxswain for many years.

‘This award could not go to a better band of heroes.’

Julia Alder also put forward the RNLI for the award.

‘They deserve this award because no matter what the weather or sea conditions are like, they will always go when there is a shout and do everything possible to reach a stricken vessel or sometimes person/s who have got into trouble on the water,’ she said.

‘They save lives voluntarily day or night.’
