Pride of Guernsey: Donna Rihoy
‘A SPECIAL GIRL’ who helped Liz Duquemin when she thought she was having a heart attack has been nominated for the Guernsey Gas-sponsored Neighbour of the Year Award.
Donna Rihoy lives opposite Mrs Duquemin, who said that it was one afternoon that Miss Rihoy came to her aid.
‘My chest was feeling so weak,’ she said. ‘I thought I was having a heart attack.’
She phoned the ambulance, which did not take long to arrive, but in that short interval she said Miss Rihoy was there to check that Mrs Duquemin and her husband, Brian, were all right.
‘She said: “Can your husband look after himself?”. So caring, so special, just thinking of us.’
Mrs Duquemin was taken to the hospital and placed on a heart monitor for a while, but allowed to go home that day.
‘Donna even picked me up to take me home,’ she said, adding: ‘I need to give her something as there was no one else around at this time.’
Miss Rihoy works at St Martin’s Surgery, said Mrs Duquemin: ‘A wonderful girl, as she is when she is taking appointments.
‘Please let this special girl be recognised.
‘Thank you Donna so, so very much for that evening.’
