Nominator Philippa Stahelin said: ‘As a relatively new dog owner, their advice and encouragement during the early stages of my dog’s life was invaluable and so reassuring.

‘Apart from obviously stocking the right stuff, they work really hard to get whatever you need.’

Trim Dog has been at the forefront of the island’s pet trade for over three decades and is a family-run business with community spirit at its core.

Run by Jan Olliver and her husband Nick, the friendly staff of seven have vast combined experience.

Shop assistant Jo Pittman has been with the shop for over 18 years.

‘It’s a shop with a lovely, friendly atmosphere as well, so it’s a pleasure to shop there,’ added Ms Stahelin, ‘In addition, their early opening times mean that you can always pop in at your convenience to load up with essential pet supplies.’

Mr Olliver said: ‘We are very happy to have been nominated for the award. My wife was quite pleased that a customer had nominated the shop and had said that she really did thoroughly deserve the award. It is really lovely to be recognised for all the hard work.’
