Mr Segers, who has been based at Northside Veterinary Centre for the past 24 years, is a trusted vet to Mrs Ogier, as well as friend for 20 years.

‘After an emergency consultation of my cat with Jean-Paul, he operated on him within the hour after being found very ill at home,’ she said in her nomination for the Specsavers-sponsored award.

‘Jean-Paul wasn’t sure he would survive, but miraculously he did.

‘He has been a much trusted vet and friend for many years.

‘He has delivered outstanding care to our three cats and animals locally and works tirelessly to care for them.

‘I am very grateful for everything that Jean-Paul and the wonderful girls at Northside Veterinary Centre do, with the biggest thank you I can give.’
