Debbie Robinson, who nominated Ms Ridley for the Pride of Guernsey award, said it was an honour to work with her.

‘I have the privilege of working with more than 20 fantastic volunteers, all of whom regularly give up their time to support victims and witnesses of crime,’ she said.

‘Jenny is one of those volunteers, but we are not the only organisation that she helps, as she also does a huge amount of work for the RNLI, the police and her parish, often at very short notice and always with a friendly and caring attitude.

‘She has had a positive impact on countless members of our community, often during some very trying times in their lives.

‘Without people like Jenny, the Victim Support and Witness Service and the other organisations with which she’s involved would not be able to do the extremely valuable work they do.

‘I would like to nominate her for Carer of the Year as a way of thanking her for her outstanding contribution to all of these very worthwhile causes.’
