Their nominator said, ‘The cafe is regularly full to bursting thanks to Angela, Emilie and a band of volunteers’ warmth, genuine love of people and ability to connect with their customers.’

‘The food is always amazing and they will do everything they can to accommodate restrictive diets, low income, tourists, locals, children and everyone in between.’

The Caritas team try to use as much local produce as possible, using items donated by local firms or ingredients grown in their market garden.

‘They pride themselves on providing well-cooked nourishing meals at a reasonable price,’ the nominator said.

‘Their cakes are gaining a reputation for being exceptionally good.’

‘I feel that they deserve this award as trying to turn any cafe around is remarkable, and their hard work with all areas of the community deserves recognition.’
