ACCORDING to Jackie Nant, local musician, singer, songwriter, poet, writer, storyteller, multi-instrumentalist and all-round performer, Aindre Reece-Sheerin should be this year’s recipient of the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year award.

‘Aindre has through Facebook, three times a day, read children’s stories and sung to us every day through lockdown.’

Local Facebook group Gsy Ebuy allowed Aindre to use its platform to share his broadcasts to a wider audience. Sometimes his broadcasts would attract as many as 5,000 viewers, with people watching from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, America, France, Portugal, Ireland and the British Isles.

One of his most popular videos saw him sing a song based on the Dad’s Army TV theme tune called Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Mr Covid?

Aindre said that the most important thing for him was the connectivity and being able to move, touch and inspire other people via the medium of social media.

Although he has ended his morning broadcasts, Aindre continues storytelling every day at 4pm.

‘He deserves a big thank you,’ said Jackie.
