Pride of Guernsey: Pat Jenner

THE Guernsey Isolation Support Group, which helped people during the early stages of the Covid crisis, was the brainchild of Pat Jenner.

Through the use of Facebook and circulation of pamphlets, volunteers were found in every parish who could do shopping and run errands for those who were unable to do it themselves.

Mrs Jenner’s daughter, Heidi Billien, thinks her mother is worthy of consideration for the Pride of Guernsey Carer of the Year award.

‘The community spirit was brought alive by this group and mum should be so proud of everything that has been achieved, all because of her,’ she said.

‘She is 70, still working and still has time to help people in need.’

The GISG was set up just prior to shops offering a delivery service and for the first two weeks things were particularly busy, with moderators stepping in to monitor the Facebook page while help was being given to others.
