WHEN Amy Pezet had a nasty bicycle accident on a trip to Sark, it was Alison Stolton who came to her help.

Now Amy is putting her forward for the Madmax Race Team-sponsored Emergency Hero category.

Amy had gone to the island for the weekend with her partner. On the Sunday they had planned to catch the 4.30pm boat, but at 3.30pm they were called to say the boat was actually going at 4pm. Rushing to the harbour, she cycled down a hill and came off her bike on a corner.

‘The bike was in pieces, mangled on top of me,’ she said.

She suffered nasty injuries to her thigh, elbow and hand and was in shock.

‘When trying to walk to take my broken bike back, Alison’s daughter saw me and asked if I was OK,’ she said.

‘When she saw my injuries, she immediately offered to help. I was taken to her friend’s house, whilst she ran home to get her mother.’

Fortunately Alison is a trained nurse. She quickly arrived, armed with medical items and keen to help.

‘But it wasn’t enough, so she took me to her house, where she spent two hours looking after me, cleaning wounds and putting dressings on,’ Amy said.

‘All this was right on dinner time on a Sunday evening. Without her assistance, I would’ve been a complete mess, as I didn’t even have a plaster with me. She was beyond kind and caring and she fully deserves some recognition.’
