Mr Robins, 87, cared for his wife Jeanne through her illness 24 hours a day until she needed to go into care. For the next three years he visited her almost daily before she passed away in March 2018.

Following her death he continued to be part of the Chateau du Village family and continued to visit staff and residents.

Through lockdown he sent them a hamper of fresh fruit each week. He helps out with activities such as bingo and staff say he is proof that no matter what we face in life, we must keep going. They wanted to express their gratitude by nominating Mr Robins for the Pride Carer of the Year award.

‘Some people arrive and make our lives so beautiful, we can barely remember what life was like without them,’ they said.
