THE Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association manager, Julie Thompson, loves everyone who visits the centre, according to colleague Bryan Mauger.

‘She goes to great lengths to make their visit a happy one, free of stress and worry for the time they are with us, and she always has time to speak with carers privately about their concerns,’ he said.

Mrs Thompson visits families who ask for the help of the sitting service to care for their loved one and will introduce them to the carer. Regular meetings of all sitters take place so they can raise any concerns they might have and she maintains close ties with volunteers.

Close liaisons with other organisations with similar interests are frequent and new ties are developed to enable more shared activities.

With her assistant, Mrs Thompson has decorated the whole centre, thus saving the association a great deal of money.

‘Julie does it all with love and care for our people, which is very heart-warming,’ said Mr Mauger.
