Pride of Guernsey: Waitrose Rohais
DURING lockdown supermarkets saw a surge in customers followed by a raft of new rules to abide by.
But Waitrose Rohais rose to the challenge, according to Susan Venosa, who has nominated the staff of the store for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored Customer Service of the Year award for their hard work.
‘This store, out of all those I visited during the pandemic, was the most efficient, the most helpful and the most effective at managing the queues of customers,’ she said.
‘They put in place clearly marked areas outside the store and religiously staffed the entrance. Inside the store there were guidelines as to where to stand when waiting to be served. At the checkouts, there were screens put in place and efficient, safe handling of goods.’
She said the security guards brought in to help during the crisis had also played their part, in one case helping to move on loitering customers who were blocking access to goods. She also praised the shop’s policy of allowing in only one person per household, and not couples, in a bid to keep queueing time down.
‘Overall I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the Rohais Waitrose store,’ she said.
