The Guille-Alles adapted during the pandemic to ensure people could still access books. And that work was appreciated by father-of-three Alexander Holloway, who nominated the library’s staff for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored Customer Service of the Year award.

Mr Holloway said the staff offered consistently amazing customer service.

‘They offered so much help at short notice during lockdown, which was an essential lifeline with three children at home,’ he said.

‘They have reacted positively and quickly to ever-changing circumstances, to continuously upgrade and improve their service to help the community.’

During the lockdown the library staff offered free delivery of books, audiobooks, DVDs and jigsaw puzzles while the doors of the library were shut. They also continued to help people who were shielding after lockdown eased.
