Miss Hocking has nominated Colly Paul for the Pride of Guernsey Angel of the Year award, which is sponsored by Ravenscroft.

Colly is a liaison nurse at the Child Development Centre and Miss Hocking said she and her three-year-old daughter met her a year ago.

Her daughter is non-verbal and autistic and Colly supports her.

‘Colly has been a lifeline of support throughout our journey and without her, life would have been very stressful,’ said Miss Hocking.

‘My daughter doesn’t like people a lot, she finds it very overwhelming, but Colly radiates warmth and kindness and my daughter adores her.’

As well as seeing Miss Hocking and her daughter at home, Colly has accompanied them to view nurseries to make sure they are right for her, and has also sat in on paediatric appointments.

‘She’s always at the other end of the phone and her knowledge and kindness have enabled us to understand this new journey of life we couldn’t have expected.

‘I have no doubt so many families feel this way about Colly.

‘She is a genuine angel and Guernsey is lucky to have her.’
