The team was nominated by ward manager Bridgette Loveridge, who feels the award will show that the team’s efforts do not go unrecognised.

‘I nominated them because it is what they deserve.

‘It has been a really hard year for us all, but they have pulled together and worked so hard over the Covid-19 lockdowns.

‘They go the extra mile to make the residents feel welcome,’ she said.

Corbiere Ward aims to provide specialist long term and respite care, mostly to individuals who have dementia with complex needs and challenging behaviours.

‘They enjoy coming to work and being with the residents.’

The ward is decorated with various artworks ‘to make the ward feel homely for residents.’

‘We want to create a friendly and professional atmosphere for everyone.

‘It is a unique job where everyone on the team has their own skills, but we are all connected by a feeling of community.

‘The ward has become a big family where they go the extra mile to make sure residents are safe, well cared for and happy.’
