Pride of Guernsey: Mark and Pam Cummins
‘Fantastic neighbours’ Mark and Pam Cummins have been nominated for the Neighbour of the Year award, sponsored by Guernsey Gas, by the Rev. Matthew Barrett for their outstanding contributions to the Vicarage Bakery.
‘When we launched the Vicarage Bakery in 2020 to raise funds for the repairs to St John’s Church we had no idea that it would be such a success, But, thanks to our fantastic neighbours in the vicarage wing, Pam and Mark Cummins, it has gone from strength to strength,' he said.
The dedication and enthusiasm offered up by both Pam and Mark have made a huge difference to the people around them.
‘Pam and Mark get up three mornings a week at 6am to bake delicious bread and cakes to be sold on St John’s Hedge Veg stall.
'On a Saturday morning we have queues down Les Amballes for Pam’s sensational hot sausage rolls. The raspberry iced buns are a top seller, the Bakewell slices are divine and Mark’s friendly chat with the customers keeps them coming back for more.
‘Pam and Mark never accept anything in return and are the best neighbours we could possibly ask for. Nothing is too much trouble, and everything is served up with kindness and a smile.
'They are a blessing to our little corner of St Peter Port and thoroughly deserve our thanks and praise.’
