Pride of Guernsey: Ollie Chedhomme
2020 GGU golfer of the year Ollie Chedhomme has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award, sponsored by St Pierre Park.
Ollie’s nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that he is a ‘highly successful young golfer who is set to do great things in the future. He is also a great young chap.’
Ollie, 16, recently won the Royal Guernsey Men’s centenary trophy with a ‘stunning round of 67 gross’ as described in the tournament’s report, and has also become a plus handicap golfer, which Guernsey Press golf correspondent Gareth Le Prevost said was a phenomenal achievement for someone his age.
He also enjoyed a superb 2020, which ended in him claiming the golfer of the year award, as he became the LGM Men’s Club Champion, LGM Junior Club Champion, Junior Island champion and Alderney Open Gross Champion, which he recently won for the second year running.
In addition to this list of achievements, he has been a part of the Hampshire U16 team, and in all four Guernsey Scratch League games in 2021 he came out victorious, overcoming current island champion Danny Blondel as well as two former island champions in Steve Mahy and Nigel Vaudin.
