Yvonne Blundell nominated Nicky for the award.

‘She joined St John Ambulance three years ago after not having any experience. Today, she is the manager.

‘She adores her clients, they often ring for chats in the evening and at weekends.

‘No matter how busy she is, she will always make time for them. She often runs little errands in her free time – getting phones repaired, buying cat food and a host of other little things that make a difference.

‘They are always so grateful and make some lovely comments. She has a wicked sense of humour and has great banter with these patients, who often don’t see or have anyone to speak to anyone other than her in the day.’

Operations lead Stuart Malley described Nicky as ‘simply one of the best assets of the service’.

Mr Malley said ‘she is always good-natured and is continually prepared to go above and beyond for the service and in the care of her patients.’

Aimee Lihou, head of quality and patient safety, added: ‘Nothing is too much trouble for Nicky and the help she gives the Emergency Ambulance Service during periods of high demand is invaluable.’
