‘Garry works tirelessly as a volunteer for local and international sport and he started when he was just 17 years old,’ said his nominator, Mel Ogier.

‘He has been involved in over a dozen different organisations and is currently the treasurer of the Vale Rec, a trustee of the Corbet Field, the president of Bowls Guernsey, the administration director for Bowls Europe and the World Bowls regional director for Europe. Garry has also been involved with the Island Games as a manager and runs a number of different tournaments each year.’

‘Garry works very hard so others can benefit from enjoying sport, and he does all this whilst also being involved in his parish as a Vale douzenier and works full time for the Ambulance Service, often working late at night and very early in the morning to make sure events happen.

‘He is a true sporting hero and sets a great example to others.’
