Pride of Guernsey: Kelly King
KELLY KING, family support worker at Les Beaucamps High School, has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.
Ms King started her role as family support worker this year. The role was only created across all of the high schools in September.
‘My main role is supporting students with low attendance and their families, building a relationship with school to increase attendance,' she said.
Nominator Leanne Sarre praised Mrs King’s efforts to help her personally.
‘From experience, I went through a lot during my five years at Beaucamps and it was all a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me. Kelly was the one person who I knew I could always go to for anything without any judgement whatsoever.
‘She works hard for all the children at Beaucamps and never lets anyone down or gives up on them even when they don’t feel like they deserve her help.
‘She truly is her own school built-in hero.’
