Pride of Guernsey: Karen Dodd
KAREN DODD has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award.
She has been working as a learning support assistant for 14 years, 10 of those at Les Voies School.
‘Mrs Dodd has helped our daughter so much,’ said her nominator, Mags Power.
‘She always does her best, she gives her time and never gives up on our daughter. She’s built a beautiful relationship with our daughter. She always tells me how proud she is of her. Our daughter sees a safe person in her.’
Mags went on to say how Mrs Dodd was always happy to talk, even outside of usual hours.
She has helped Mags’ daughter with reading, cooking, art and so much more.
Mrs Dodd was overjoyed to receive the nomination. She said the best thing about her job had to be ‘the reward you get from the children.’
‘She deserves to be nominated for her amazing work,’ Mags said.
