Michael has been working as a teacher since 2009 and has spent the past four years teaching at St Martin’s Primary School.

‘Mr Blundell is the most devoted and patient teacher for Year 4 in St Martin’s,’ said his nominator, who wished to remain anonymous.

‘He helps new kids both from Russia and Ukraine to adapt in school. He prepares lessons separately for them, translates everything on his phone and writes special notes.’

What was notable to his nominator was also his enthusiasm to coach the students in a tag rugby festival.

‘I see how hard he is working and how much respect he gets from the kids and parents each year.

‘Everybody loves him.

‘He goes to school every Sunday to prepare lessons for next week for four years now, every single week.

‘He definitely deserves to be mentioned.’

Mr Blundell was surprised, but happily so, by the nomination.

He says the best thing about his job is ‘seeing the progress the children are making every day.’
