A Guernseyman born and raised, Ben has always appreciated the sunsets on the west coast.

From 15 years old he would stay up later and later taking pictures particularly of the stars, and people soon began to take an interest in his photography. He then switched from nature to people as his main inspiration. He particularly enjoys travel photography, taking his camera on trips away.

‘I love visiting countries in the Middle East, anywhere off the beaten path,' he said.

'I feel like I’m on an adventure and finding out about things.

‘My favourite project has been documenting our local fishing and farming industries, providing insight into the working man’s life.

'It’s so interesting to find out about that life. I love photography because my camera is a social tool to explore all aspects of life and anything I take an interest.’

Ben’s nominators, who wished to remain anonymous, were thankful for all his photographic efforts.

‘He’s such a brilliant photographer and does lots for Guernsey as well as for other countries when he’s away.’
