James has spent all 12 years of his teaching career at St Sampson’s High School and is also the school's inclusion champion.

In that role, he and his team tailor teaching methods and structures to each student that needs specialised support.

‘James has supported my daughter for the past six months,’ said his nominator Ali Le Page.

‘He has been amazing with her, very caring and understanding.

‘He always listened to her point of view and never judged.

‘I could speak to James at any time if I had any concerns and he would always go and make sure she was doing okay to put my mind at ease.

‘He would always make sure my daughter knew how proud he was of her when she achieved something.

‘He obviously enjoys what he does. He does care about the students, always trying to keep the kids upbeat.'
