Robert started at Le Rondin in 2019 with a teaching role and then became PE and outdoor learning head and a member of the senior leadership team.

He has organised the school’s sports day and sea swimming trips for the children.

‘I’ve seen the children’s confidence grow.

‘It’s really good to see the inclusive environment in the school.

‘Inclusivity is so important in terms of involving children with special needs in sports where they can compete with mainstream children, as both benefit from competing together.

‘The whole island provides cultural capital experiences but it’s probably more apparent in this kind of environment, giving opportunities to benefit the whole child.

‘We do a lot of cooking and swimming all year-round and have sensory rooms to tailor for all their needs.’

Award nominator Karen Gilbert praised Robert’s great work with the children who find it hard to learn, adding that he has a really pleasant attitude whenever he helps them.
