Alex Jenner
ALEX JENNER has been nominated for Bailiwick Community Hero, sponsored by the Fort Group.
Alex started with Good Samaritans from 1991–98 before heading a selected charity at the financial institution she worked at. She has been involved with the MS Society, put on the It’s A Knockout event in conjunction with the Guernsey Cheshire Home, and has worked as fundraising coordinator for that charity. She then worked for St John’s Ambulance temporarily, as an accountant for De Garis Accounting (now DNA), and she is now on the board for Help a Guernsey Child, where she is helped out by her daughter Mia.
Alex also helps with accounts sign-off and reviews of other charities, and she is a director of In-Dependence which provides support for people with addiction.
Alex was delighted with her nomination.
‘I work for personal reasons due to things which have happened to those very close to my heart.’
Nominator Jurat Stephen Jones praised all that Alex does for the community. ‘Alex is that very rare charity supporter who not only works with those needing help and advice but also finds time to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds as she did for the MS Society and the Guernsey Cheshire Home.'
Fellow nominator Mia Jenner added:
‘I believe she puts more time and effort into others rather than herself, which she has shown in the last decade, and I believe she deserves some recognition for this.’
