Holly moved to the island from the UK and teaches languages, particularly Spanish, and PE. She has been teaching at Les Beaucamps for nearly two years now, her first post since completing her teacher training.

‘I love Les Beaucamps, it’s a really nice place to work. I enjoy teaching languages and the numbers of students choosing languages has sky-rocketed. 18 Year 11s have just taken languages (French and Spanish) and 75 have chosen it for their subject for Year 10 next year.

‘It’s a great department and I love working with my colleagues and hoping to carry on the success next year. Agnes [Thornton de Mauroy] has been so helpful.

'The school has a really important outlook on languages. The Conti method of learning languages – using chunks of information instead of words – is really important too.’

Nominator Nikki Cooper was very thankful. ‘Holly has put in so much time and effort with my son who has ADHD.

‘He is doing really well in French as a result of her support and encouragement. She has firm boundaries with him but also rewards the positive wherever she can.’
