Pride of Guernsey: Jerry Thomas
‘GENUINELY LOVELY’ Jerry Thomas from Vauvert Primary School has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by Core Fund Services.
‘For me she was a standout,’ said her nominator Janette Kay-Mouat.
‘She’s not just about the teaching and getting the kids to learn, but creating the right environment for them.
‘She gives them respect and care and she gets respect back from them. Her genuine love, care and passion for her work is obvious in everything she does.
‘If all teachers were as able and caring, our children would be helped to become the adults they deserve to be.
‘She is a rare jewel in her profession and thoroughly deserves this award.’
Mrs Thomas has been teaching for 24 years.
‘I’m just quite stunned, to be honest,’ she said.
