Pride of Guernsey: Kate Lloyd
‘EMPOWERING’ Kate Lloyd from La Mare de Carteret Primary School has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award.
Her nominator, Liz Taylor-Kerr, spoke glowingly of her ability to manage a busy primary classroom whilst still attending to every student’s unique talents.
‘Miss Lloyd is an excellent teacher. She identifies each student’s individual needs and adjusts accordingly. She challenges them and encourages them to pass their knowledge on to their fellow students,’ she said.
‘She is unflappable and always kind. Empowering is a good word for her.’
Miss Lloyd has been teaching at La Mare for five years, and is still in love with her job, she said. She was delighted to be nominated.
‘It is such a compliment. In school, days go by in a flash, every day is different. The children really make the job,’ she said.
