‘Jenny has been directing plays for the youth of Guernsey for over a decade,’ said her nominator, Hannah Lord.

‘The amount of effort she puts in is incredible. Getting up at four in the morning to make costumes to baking treats to keep them all going during the rehearsals.

‘She creates the most inclusive community for young children to thrive and be their best selves.

‘The children adore Jenny and she makes each of them feel seen and heard, and most importantly valued. She gathers the best team around her and the result is always a slick, polished, impressive production emanating joy, always impressing the UK adjudicators.

‘She’s a real gem, an asset to Guernsey Arts and its creative community.’

Jenny has been directing since 1993, and has spent around 45 years in the theatre scene.

She was very much touched by her nomination.

‘I just believe in the youngsters and the opportunities drama gives them,’ she said.

‘It’s seeing the children grow up, that’s my joy.’

Another nominator, Jemma Wilson, was also taken with Jenny’s efforts. ‘Jenny directed the first theatrical performance my daughter was part of, and she had the most amazing time, and Jenny was absolutely brilliant throughout.’
