Pride of Guernsey: Kate Kemsley
KATE KEMSLEY has been nominated for the Angel of the Year award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.
Kate has been working as a respiratory clinical nurse specialist for the past five years.
‘She is such an a amazing person, she was never in a rush with patients and we could ask for anything as nothing was too much trouble,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘Kate was so supportive to both of us through good and bad days, and always willing to help in any way she could.
‘She was never in a rush to leave, she’d talk things through.
‘She was just a wonderful, wonderful person.
‘For my husband she made sure he was pain-free and comfortable as possible and even took the time to visit him in A&E and the hospital. My husband loved her dearly. She went beyond her job to sort us out, I couldn’t have done it without her.
‘She was the one who kept us going. She was here for me, she was my guardian angel.
‘An absolute angel.’
Kate was absolutely thrilled with her nomination. She said that the most rewarding thing about her job was the journey with the patient.
‘They’re in your mind all the time, you can’t switch it off,’ she said.
