Guernsey Parkrun is a 5km run, jog or walk open to all every Saturday morning.

It is open to people of all abilities, and people can complete the course at their own pace.

The scheme is run by volunteers who sign-up weekly to the volunteer roster. Anyone can register to help out at events and the volunteers change weekly. Each week around 20 volunteers help with the running of the event. There are a variety of roles people can take on, from marshalling to taking photos of the runners.

Lorna O’Donnell, who started Guernsey Parkrun in April 2016, said ‘how exciting’, upon being told of the nomination.

The nominator said: ‘The commitment to organise and turn out every Saturday, in whatever weather, to give their time is outstanding. Parkrun is so important for the health and wellbeing of so many.'
