Brian has come to prominence over the past decade as the chairman of the Guernsey Island Games Association, and as such played a crucial role in the hugely successful 2023 Games in Guernsey.

Before that, however, he was also a teacher, and his nominator wishes for both his impactful contribution there and his integral role in the Island Games community to be recognised.

‘If you didn’t like him there was something wrong with you,’ said his nominator, who wished to remain anonymous.

He first came into contact with Brian while the latter was still teaching design at Elizabeth College, where his pupils affectionately called him ‘Papa Smurf’.

‘He will always push for the best in people. He makes you want to do better.

'He makes people feel so proud of what they’re doing.

‘He puts 100% into everything he does. He’s interested in all sorts of sport. As chairman, you can’t buy the position, you’ve got to love it.

‘He thoroughly deserves credit. He’s made a massive impact, he takes his responsibility as chairman seriously, and it was a brilliant Games.

‘An all-round superman!’
