Sue holds a number of volunteering commitments in island sport and has been described by her nominator, Min Henry, as ‘an encourager and a huge benefit to our island sporting community’.

One of Sue’s volunteering roles is with the Guernsey Swim All Seasons group.

‘Sue is on our committee for Guernsey Swim All Seasons. As a volunteer Sue is always ready to help anyone who needs one-to-one support in sea swimming, she runs sea confidence swim sessions in the lead up to the Guernsey Castle Swim and is always at the centre of what we do,’ said Min.

‘Sometimes Sue will be at a group swim on Saturday mornings straight from volunteering at a “Little Champs” session, designed for children with additional needs, developing movement and sports skills.’

‘Then after attending Swim All Seasons, some Saturdays, she then volunteers at wheelchair chairography, a group set up for people who love to dance but can now only do so in a wheelchair.’

Sue also volunteers with Guernsey Mobility Let’s Go, which is a weekly activity group.

‘Sue is a shining example of true selflessness.’
