Pride of Guernsey: Carla Monica
CARLA MONICA has been nominated for the Angel of the Year award, which is sponsored by Ravenscroft.
Carla has been working as a breast radiographer specialist for six years.
‘Mammograms are not something I look forward to, especially since having breast cancer surgery,’ said her nominator Sue Ferreira.
‘Carla, the radiographer at the breast unit, is so gentle and reassuring that she makes appointments a breeze. It would be lovely for her care to be recognised.
‘She’s just amazing, amazingly gentle and kind.
‘She’s taking the fear out of going – it’s never a pleasurable experience for a woman regardless.
‘She makes you feel validated, she’s just lovely and reassuring. She really listens to you and takes onboard your concerns,’ she said.
Carla was thrilled with her nomination.
‘I’m shocked,’ she said.
‘Working in healthcare, is quite demanding. Seeing the patient after a year, after all the treatment and to see them well – it makes our service worthy.’
