The staff at the recycling centre work hard to help make Guernsey as environmentally friendly as possible.

‘I think they go unrecognised for doing such a difficult job,’ their nominator said, who wished to remain anonymous.

Every day in all weathers the staff at Longue Hougue work to provide the best customer service for everyone.

‘For most of us we enjoy providing a service by serving people on the island,’ said Ian Gavet, deputy managing director of States Works, on behalf of the Longue Hougue Recycling Centre.

The staff at Longue Hougue are always eager to help and are particularly polite to everyone they meet.

‘They’re doing a great public service,’ their nominator said.

‘It’s humbling to be nominated,’ said Mr Gavet, who added he could not be happier for the expectational team at Longue Hougue and all the work they do.

‘It can’t be an easy job, but they seem to enjoy what they are doing and making a big contribution to our environment,’ their nominator said.
