Mike volunteers for Guernsey Rugby, the Guernsey Raiders and more. He is an ambassador for the sport having only missed five fixtures in the last 13 years. Mike has been nominated for the time he dedicates to the local teams.

‘He donates his time taking all the squad photographs used in match programmes and the website,’ said his nominator, who wished to remain anonymous.

‘And Mike provides physical support in many ways, including constructing the concrete base for the club’s new scrum machine.’

He also hosts visiting teams’ committee members and assists new players settling into the island, opening his home if needed.

His nominator has also said how Mike helps the players and is like a ‘father figure’ to many of them, offering advice, whether that be about rugby or whether it be something more personal.

Recently Mike has been recognised for his volunteering and service to the sport by the Rugby Football Union.

As well as his support for rugby, Mike has also travelled to the Commonwealth Games to photograph local sporting heroes and volunteered in the recent Island Games.
