‘My mother-in-law has always been an amazing nanny to our six-year-old twin boys. Being the first grandchildren there was a lot of excitement about their arrival and with me having no family on the island, Hayley has been a huge part of the boys’ lives from day one,’ said her nominator, Dawn Robilliard.

‘She has taken on the challenge of caring for two very active little boys wholeheartedly and with complete adoration. It’s fair to say they have Nanny completely wrapped around their little fingers. She has such a strong bond with the boys and this has made the past few years a lot easier on them.

‘Nearly three years ago my husband – her son – was diagnosed with a brain tumour and she has made everything so much more stable and comforting for our boys.

‘She has moved into our home and kept things as normal as possible for them while my husband and I have been off-island for surgeries and treatment etc.

‘She’s done the school runs, the lunches, the bedtimes, the stories, the cuddles and everything I couldn’t do.

‘She’s been a co-parent and without her I’m not sure we all would have coped as well as we have. She deserves some recognition and all the gratitude in the world. I couldn’t ask for a better mother-in-law and my boys adore her, feel safe, loved, secure and get to eat all the treats mummy says no to with her.

‘What more could you ask for from a grandparent?’
