‘Chas has been a volunteer for the Voluntary Transport Service since the beginning of 2021. He has helped support transport coordination for thousands of trip-registered passengers,’ said his nominator, Fiona Creed.

‘The Voluntary Transport Service coordinates 33 volunteer drivers to take our 351 registered passengers to medical and wellbeing appointments without charge. Last year we booked 8,820 journeys. All of our passengers are people in need of support,’ she said.

‘Chas’s contribution to the community will have been life-changing for some of these people. He has been a listening ear on the phone to many of these individuals.

‘Chas is also a keen baker and he keeps us all going with his lovely home-baked goodies.

‘For us he’s so dependable. Without him it would put a lot more pressure on the team. His heart is in the job, in the community and the people he helps.’
