Pride of Guernsey: Florrie Cooper
FLORRIE COOPER has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award, sponsored by St Pierre Park.
‘Florrie is a superstar in the world of Guernsey water polo,’ said her nominator, who wished to remain anonymous.
Florrie has won numerous awards with her talent for the water sport and sets a ‘fantastic example to the younger children, especially the under-11s’, her nominator said.
At 14 years old Florrie has been playing water polo for four years. She is seen as a real role model to the younger players, being supportive and encouraging.
‘I’m very excited and pleased to be nominated,’ said Florrie when told of her nomination.
Florrie loves the atmosphere at water polo and the friendships she makes.
‘Seeing her playing made me proud of Guernsey youth,’ her nominator said.
Florrie’s nominator highlighted her skills and also her ability to support the younger players, making her stand out in a close-knit team.
‘The most rewarding has been two internationals [matches] where we got first place in Bath,’ said Florrie, who has won awards locally and in the UK.
‘Florrie thoroughly deserves this award,’ her nominator said.
