Pride of Guernsey: Kath and Ernie Huxster
KATH and Ernie Huxter have been nominated for the Grandparents of the Year award.
‘They are incredible grandparents to my two daughters Niamh and Frankie and to my nieces and nephews Liam, Sophie, Reece and Zoe and have become affectionately known as Nanny Kath and Papa Ernie to many of our friends and family children too,’ said their nominator, Karen Emmett.
‘They go above and beyond for them all. Feeding them meals and giving them lifts and cheeky little gifts here and there.
‘They’re always there through the good times and bad.
‘They will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in August and continue to show strength and love to each other and their family, especially their grandchildren.’
‘My Nan and Pop deserve this award as they are always caring and loving for all the family,’ said another nominator, granddaughter Sophie Chainey.
‘They would do anything for anyone – especially if you’re out in Town and they come to pick you up when you have had a drink.’
