Pride of Guernsey: Ken Smith
KEN SMITH has been nominated for the Carer of the Year award.
Ken has volunteered with Health Connections as a driver for over six years now and has been recognised for his reliability by his nominators, Tracey Bran, Paul De Jersey, and Jan Looijenga. ‘Ken is very reliable and really puts himself out for us,' they said.
They added that Ken was always willing to do extra little things for them and ‘go the extra mile’.
‘On the way to us Ken sometimes does extra little things, like going to the pharmacy and putting in prescriptions for us. Ken is very calming and efficient and always organised, if he is going to be late picking us up he always phones to let us know.’
Health Connections Transport Service works with Headway, and transports a lot of their members.
‘With Ken’s help we have been able to access Headway’s services, which have been a lifeline for us.’
