‘My nan gave up work to look after me when I was little so my mum could work, they then looked after my child when I had her so I could go back to work,’ said their nominator, Tia Hughes.

Tia has two children, and is phenomenally grateful for all the help Peter and Jenny have given her. ‘They are always there still doing school pick-ups, looking after my children when they’re sick, school holiday cover and helping in every way they can.

‘My life wouldn’t be the same without them, since day one.

‘My mum sacrificed her career for us. She doesn’t ask anything for it, she just does it.

‘I wouldn’t have my life if it wasn’t for them. I wouldn’t be able to do work if they didn’t pick up my daughter. They helped me get my house.’

Peter ‘acts like a child’ around his grandchildren, Tia said.

‘Nan has three children when they’re all together,’ she chuckled.
