‘They both help out with childcare, babysitting, helping with sick kids, so we can go to work,’ said their nominator, Louise Le Cras.

‘We are a blended family so Sally – Mum – keeps us all together as a family. Martyn already had four children, and Mum three, when they got together, and they help us all.

‘Martyn is an amazing stepdad but even more so a special poppy to all our children and helps out with anything too. We are truly blessed to have these guys in ours and our children’s lives holding the family together.

‘They’re special to us because they’re ours.’

‘Their grandchildren have so much respect for them. Poppy’s one of the kids,’ she said.

Sally and Martyn get up to all sorts with their grandchildren, babysitting, going to the park, lunches, holidays, sleepovers, trips to the beach. Martyn is firmly in charge of barbecue duty.

‘They just want to be around,’ Louise said.
