‘Hudson’s granny has been my rock, always, but more now than ever since he’s come into our lives, and that’s saying a lot after everything she’s done for me and my siblings growing up,’ said nominator Kirsty Chick.

‘After a traumatic birth and long recovery, she helped us in more ways than she’ll ever know. Whether that was helping with day-to-day practicalities, keeping on top of my work so I didn’t let our Starlight Dance students down, or just by being there, regardless of reason, nothing was too much.

‘In January, I was struggling to juggle everything and as if by intuition, Granny gave up her job so she could spend more time with us and enhance her already incredible bond with Hudson. I could only wish for every grandchild to be lucky enough to have and cherish a relationship akin to theirs.

‘Granny is the most kind, generous, and selfless person we know, always putting her children and grandchildren before anyone else, and while she loves spoiling us in so many ways, her gift of time is the most treasured gift of all.

‘Hudson gave Granny his first ever smile, and by nominating our “granny of the galaxy” for Grandparent of the Year, we hope we can show her just how appreciated and loved she truly is and bring a smile to her face.

‘Thank you for making me laugh, teaching me, knitting me outfits, and making me a wholeheartedly happy, content little boy. I love you to the moon and the stars always, Huddy.’
