Pride of Guernsey: Rosemary Bishop-White
ROSEMARY BISHOP-WHITE of the Rosaire Community Association has been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award, sponsored by Insurance Corporation.
The Rosaire Community Group works in partnership with other organisations and agencies to develop and provide opportunities for older people. It aims to make as many opportunities as inclusive as possible.
Her nominator, Glenys Domaille, said: ‘Members of the association couldn’t join a charity walk which they desired to do, so the group devised a way to include all members in the walk, regardless of any disabilities, by walking as many lengths of the car park as they could do, resting when they wished. The total laps were added up and they reached around 60 miles. The event had a huge impact on members and gave them confidence that they could do things they had not previously considered.
‘Over the past couple of years, the group has taken a change of direction and now has more of a focus on inclusivity.’
Glenys also wanted to mention the rest of the committee for their work on being inclusive.
