Okay, they might not be able to guarantee the sun, but the people behind Chaos XIV can definitely promise a banging three-day weekend in Torteval, from 29 June to 1 July.

How do we know? They’ve been reliably providing an eclectic festival of entertainment for the last 13 years. It seems unlikely they’ll be changing any time soon.

And the line-up bears this out.

Top acts Blakalaska, Mechanical Lobster, Neck, The Surfin’ Birds and The Recks suggest that Chaos XIV won’t be letting the side down.

Popular local five-piece Blakalaska return to Chaos after a few years’ break to play their main stage debut on the Friday night. Having previously graced the Peace Tent, they’ll be showcasing their energetic mix of electronic, rock, dubstep, trip hop and drum and bass further down the field.

Meanwhile, Mechanical Lobster play their comeback gig in the Peace Tent on Friday night – their first in more than 10 years. As well-known for their questionable stage antics as their much-anticipated (and as-yet unreleased) second album, the now seven-piece industrial metal band are guaranteed to raise eyebrows – and possibly the roof – when they play their first album live.

Will they actually turn up or just stick the CD on? Who knows. But would you risk missing it if they do?

London-Irish psycho ceilidh rock act Neck take the prime Saturday night headline spot on the main stage. Mixing punk and Celtic tunes, they’ll have every biker (and non-biker) in the crowd on their feet and dancing.

Meanwhile, the Peace Tent will be welcoming The Recks back for what will no doubt be a barnstorming performance if their recent album launch at the Fermain Tavern is anything to go by.

Sunday sees the second year of the under 21s Battle of the Bands with Sound Guernsey. Last year’s debut proved an incredible success, with winners Vice playing the main stage on Friday this year. Runners-up Track Not Found also return over the weekend.

Expect more of the same from some of the islands up-and-coming acts.

Dorset act The Surfin’ Birds make their debut on the main stage on Friday night. Their unique mix of -’60s rock, stoner psych and surf-inspired sounds are a hit with the gig-going crowd and a favourite of BBC Introducing’s Tom Girard. They are bound to pick up further fans at Pleinmont.

Chaos favourites [spunge], Static Alice and Honest Crooks return to the main stage on Sunday.

Equally, the Peace Tent welcomes back The Ukuladeez, Blue Mountains, Flexagon, Tantale, Mr Justin, Alex Psymons, Lord Vapour and the Lo-Fidelity Sparkle Bitches, as well as much-loved local three-piece Fly Casual.

Aside from the metal, punk and rock ’n’ roll streaming out of the main stage speakers, there will be plenty of fun and frolics on offer in the shape of tattoo competitions, burn-outs and bike contests across the weekend.

There will, of course, also be beer and other beverages to keep festival-goers fed and watered.

There’ll also be coffee, toasties and wine available in the Peace Tent.

The psychedelic supernova of sights and sounds will be hovering over the fields providing its mesmerising mix of folk, fun, metal and games.

DJs will get the eclectic crowds jumping together under canvas – it looks set to be another unforgettable weekend of festivities.

So if you haven’t bought your weekend ticket yet, there are a myriad reasons to do so.

Not least the views across the Hanois and the chance to camp on one of the island’s most picturesque spots.

For one three-day weekend, you’ll get the best that local music has to offer and a coffee to wake up to.

l Tickets are £15-£31 plus booking fee, depending on age and options, available online at chaosevents.com. For more details, go to the website.
